
SPCE UCA and Tekeli Department of Education Sign MoU to Strengthen Teacher Training and Educational Innovation
UCA’s School of Professional and Continuing Education (SPCE) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Department of Education of the city of Tekeli, Kazakhstan, marking a new stage of cooperation aimed at enhancing teacher training, strengthening professional capacity, and promoting innovation in education.
The Memorandum of Understanding was formally signed on behalf of the University of Central Asia by its Rector, Professor Christopher Gerry, and locally signed in Tekeli by SPCE Kazakhstan Country Manager, Aliyar Zhumagaliyev, who represented UCA at the ceremony. The signing ceremony brought together school principals and education leaders from across Tekeli, all united by a shared goal to improve the quality of education and inspire lifelong learning. The agreement formalises years of close collaboration between SPCE UCA and local schools through initiatives such as English language training for teachers, digital literacy workshops, and seminars on modern teaching methods.
Under the new memorandum, both parties committed to expanding their joint efforts by launching a series of professional development programmes, organising regular training sessions, seminars, and speaking clubs, and creating platforms for educators and school leaders to exchange experience and best practices.
Speaking at the ceremony, Nurlan Nusipbekov from the Tekeli Department of Education highlighted the importance of the partnership:
“This partnership with SPCE UCA opens up new opportunities for our teachers to enhance their qualifications and apply modern teaching methods in schools. We highly value this collaboration and look forward to implementing joint projects that will benefit both educators and students.”
Local school principals also expressed strong support for the initiative.
Aigul Tulegenova, Principal of Tekeli Secondary School No. 3, shared:
“Our teachers are eager to participate in SPCE UCA’s training and speaking clubs. Such initiatives help them stay motivated and confident in applying innovative approaches in the classroom.”
Laura Baisultanova, Principal of Tekeli School-Lyceum No. 6, added:
“Collaboration with SPCE UCA brings fresh perspectives and practical knowledge that are essential for today’s education system. We see this as an important step towards improving teaching quality in our schools.”
