SPCE Celebrates Achievements of its Graduates in Bokhtar, Tajikistan
UCA's School of Professional and Continuing Education (SPCE) recently celebrated the accomplishments of graduates from its English language course in Bokhtar, Tajikistan. The ceremony, coinciding with the Navruz celebration, honoured the completion of the course by refugees from Afghanistan alongside members of the Bokhtar and Kushoniyon communities.
Thirty-eight learners, predominantly women, participated in the four-month learning programme. Throughout this journey, they not only enhanced their English proficiency but also engaged in visits to historical sites, cultural exchanges, and forged stronger ties with the local community. The programme is a collaborative effort between SPCE and the UN International Organization for Migration (IOM) funded by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada.
Esteemed guests at the ceremony included Ms Nargis Qurbonzoda, Deputy Mayor of Bokhtar, Mr Parviz Melbaev, Senior Programme Associate at IOM, Mr Asadullo Sidiqi, Representative of the Afghan diaspora in Bokhtar, and Mr Dilovar Butabekov, Director of SPCE. Congratulating the graduates on their achievements, Qurbonzoda Nargis noted: “Thanks to the government of Tajikistan, we are celebrating Navruz together with the Afghan community in an atmosphere of peace, unity, and friendship. Today's ceremony marks my first participation in the University of Central Asia's events, and I am delighted to observe the exemplary level of organization demonstrated here”.
