UCA Documentary Nominated for Tajik National Film Prize
UCA’s Aga Khan Humanities Project has achieved a significant milestone with its debut documentary titled “A Search for Civilization: Ancient Wakhan”. Released in 2023, the film has been nominated for the prestigious Tajik National Film Prize, Toji Somon (The Crown of Somon), in the Best Documentary category. This nomination recognises the documentary’s vital role in preserving and promoting the rich cultural heritage of the Wakhan region in Tajikistan.
Through a captivating narrative, the film delves into the Wakhan region's cultural heritage across various historical periods. It showcases ancient caravansaries, fortresses, arrow towers, temples, petroglyphs, and other artifacts that highlight the enduring influence of the Silk Road on the region.
Since its release, the film has been widely acclaimed, with screenings and multiple broadcasts on national television in Tajikistan.
At the award ceremony, the documentary was honored with a Diploma for its participation in the international film festival, marking yet another milestone in UCA’s efforts to document and share Central Asia’s rich historical legacy.
